Michael Allman continuously minimizes, berates, harasses, and dismisses anyone who disagrees with him, often using an exasperated, demeaning tone and even profanity. This conduct does not reflect the values of SDUHSD.
Disrespectful of Students: Value of Student Input “Very near zero.”
|
Regular Board Meeting, December 15, 2020:
After multiple student board representatives expressed concerns over the proposed rushed reopening, Michael Allman dismissed their value as “near zero.” This was not a fleeting misstatement -- it was purposeful, measured, and clearly articulated. Trustee Young and Associate Superintendent Bryan Marcus follow Allman’s comment, respectfully offering the alternative perspective on the value of our students. This statement was from Trustee Allman's first board meeting. Watch Allman in His Own Words Here |
Disrespectful of Students' COVID-19 Fears: "Kids don't get sick!"
|
Regular Board Meeting, December 15, 2020:
As the board sought input from local physicians, one physician and father, Dr. Zage, Rady’s Pediatric Oncologist, shared his son’s concerns about returning to school on January 4th, 2021. Mr. Allman dismissed Dr. Zage’s son’s fears, repeating COVID-19 misinformation that, "I don't know why they're afraid when kids don't get sick.” To counter that disinformation, Dr. Grossfeld, Rady's Pediatric Cardiologist, calls it a "misstatement." Dr. Zage explains how students indeed understand the gravity of the disease, and Trustee Young refers to multiple young COVID patients at the Pediatric Unit of Rady's Children’s Hospital. District Staff: "I don't want to hear you, Cindy!"
|
Special Board Meeting, March 29, 2021:
During a discussion of the district’s quarantine policy, Mr. Allman challenges Superintendent Haley on the CDPH and San Diego County HHS regulations that the district must follow about quarantining “close contact” students. To help clarify the various regulations, Associate Superintendent Cindy Frazee attempted to interject. However, Mr. Allman aggressively stops her from speaking, saying, “I don’t want to hear you, Cindy!”. Watch Allman in His Own Words Here |
Disrespectful to Teacher: “You should NOT be teaching…”
Listen to a CCA student question the Board's treatment of the public.
|
In December 2020, as the county was entering the worst stages of the pandemic and the debate over the expanded reopening of schools was heating up, a concerned teacher emailed the entire board. Trustee Allman responded in a manner unbecoming of a community leader. He was reactionary, combative, condescending, and hostile.

Disrespectful to Teachers: Condoning Violent Images
From Allman’s Facebook Page, November 2020:
In a comment on a post about upcoming teacher contract negotiations, one follower referenced this scene from the movie Batman: The Dark Knight. Mr. Allman responded using the Joker’s first threatening line from the clip, “Wanna see a magic trick?” indicating his support for the analogy. Note also that Mr. Allman was the moderator of this group at the time of this posting. As of July 18, 2021, the original poster is still a member of Allman's closed, private Facebook Group. Disrespectful to Teachers: Teachers Should “Rot in Hell”
In Allman’s Facebook Group “SDUHSD Families for School Reopening,” it is common for posts and comments directed to schools and teachers to be troubling and rude. In fact, in one comment, teachers and administrators were called “cowards and frauds,” “worthless,” “spineless,” and “selfish.” The commenter hoped “they rot in hell.” That comment was not removed and received numerous likes. As of July 2021, that person remains a member of that group. Want to see some examples of what goes on in the Private Group? Click Here.

Disrespectful to Administrators: “Fire Three Principals”
In Allman’s Facebook Group “SDUHSD Families for School Reopening,” it is common for posts and comments to be aggressive toward schools and administrators. These types of comments are rarely moderated. In one comment, a member suggests that Allman “fire three principals” as a threat -- making an example of them to intimidate others. Michael Allman showed support for that intimidation tactic by replying, “you aren’t the only one with that idea, believe me.” Want to see some examples of what goes on in the Private Group? Disrespectful to Community Members: “Keep her going...Jesus! ”
|
Special Board Meeting, March 24, 2021:
During Public Comments, one speaker respectfully requests not to be interrupted during their address and for their time to be reset to the full allotted time. In response, Allman is heard blurting, “Keep her going... Jesus!" in an exasperated tone. Watch Allman in His Own Words Here |
Disrespectful to Fellow Trustees: “I'll take that as a no!”
Click the image above to watch the clip of Trustee Allman badger Trustee Katrina Young regarding his recall.
|
Board Meeting, June 10th, 2021:
During a discussion on the agenda of the item of executive search firms for the Superintendent, public comments raised the issue that only three firms filed proposals and speculated that this was potentially due to instability within the District. The board discussed this instability. Trustee Allman badgered Trustee Young as being part of this instability by not taking a stand on his recall measure. This issue was not raised with any other trustee. Watch Allman in His Own Words Here |
Disrespectful to Fellow Trustees: “Will you vote?!”
Click the image above to view Allman rushing Trustee Mossy as she was trying to determine the sustainability of the vote.
|
Regular Board Meeting, December 15, 2020:
In the last minutes of a 5+ hour board meeting, the Trustees considered Allman’s proposed resolution to expand and accelerate reopening plans coming January 2021, at the height of the pandemic. In perhaps what was the most significant conversation and decision in the history of our school board, Mr. Allman dismisses expert opinions, rushes deliberations and decisions, and generally acts in a manner that is disrespectful of the gravity of the decision at hand as well as much of the information presented. In an aggressive tone, Mr. Allman pressures Trustee Mossy to make a decision as she tries to clarify her views and her understanding of the vote. Watch Allman in his own words here. |
