Allman is not loyal to SDUHSD; he is loyal to special interests and only those constituents and staff members that praise and agree with him.
Loyal to Paid Political Donors/Advisors
Through his recall Michael Allman has created an avenue for paid political donors, starting at $5,000, to become part of an "inner circle of advisors". What does that mean and how does it impact the work he does for the District with his fellow Trustees? Is such access equitable for those families unable to afford such a large political donation?

Loyal to Pandemic Skeptics
Special Board Meeting, March 24, 2021:
Trustee Allman questions the District's policy for quarantining students determined to be "close contacts" with a diagnosed COVID-19 student, claiming such students are denied their "constitutional rights" to attend school. As per the policy set in November 2020, any such student would continue to be served through the Concurrent Distance Learning model to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19. Mr. Allman seemed more concerned with fulfilling a campaign promise than focusing on the learning and safety of all of our students. Watch Allman in His Own Words Here. |
Loyal to PANC
Michael Allman labels himself the "Parents Choice". In reality he is PANC'S choice. Allman is not a San Dieguito parent and his children did not graduate from our schools.
On March 6th, 2021, Michael Allman, along with Board President Mo Muir and then Superintendent Rob Haley, attended and spoke at the Parent Association of North County (PANC) rally. This organization garnered publicity for filing a lawsuit against the state and several districts, including SDUHSD to force our schools to reopen while San Diego County was in the Purple Tier. Allman has a fiduciary duty to ensure that the District complies with state laws and mandates and to ensure the fiscal integrity of the District; however, in this instance, Allman openly supported PANC’s action against the District, while at the same time receiving privileged and confidential legal information related to the District's defense. |
Loyal to Anti-Mask Movement
On July 10, 2021, Michael Allman used his position as an SDUHSD Trustee to participate in a Let Them Breathe event, an anti-mask mandate group. On July 22, 2021, Let Them Breathe and Reopen California filed suit against the state.
Let them Breathe was founded by a home-school advocate and featured a panelist known to have attended the January 6, 2021, Insurrection at the capital in Washington DC.

The Cost to SDUHSD of Allman's Loyalty to Special Interests
On March 16, 2021, a judge granted a TRO in a PANC funded lawsuit where SDUHSD was a "nominal" defendant. This TRO allowed SDUHSD to open on March 17, 2021, one day earlier than March 18, 2021 . . . the date every District was allowed to open because San Diego entered the Red Tier.
For the cost of $20,299.50 in legal fees, our District opened one day sooner than would have been legally allowed. Two weeks later, the plaintiffs in that case (i.e., the PANC funded parents who sued the district and with whom SDUHSD settled) lost on the merits. Every time parents empowered by Mr. Allman and representing his special interests decide to sue the district, it costs taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars. Allman's latest special interest, Let Them Breathe, has already filed suit against the State - will SDUHSD be added as well? |
Loyal to Charter and Private Schools
Allman’s private “SDUHSD Families for School Reopening” Facebook Group is moderated by Ginny Merrifield and Allison Stratton. Merrifield, a longtime charter school advocate, a Founding Director of e3 Civic High Charter School, and Co-Founder and Trustee of Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad, California, recently became the founding Executive Director of the Parent Association of North County (PANC), and Allison Stratton is one of its Directors.
